Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 10, 2026
1. Overview
Litia is an educational application designed for children, families, and educators. Litia and its development team are committed to protecting user privacy and complying with applicable privacy laws, including COPPA (United States), GDPR (European Union), and the UK GDPR / Children’s Code.
Litia is designed to function offline. Litia does not retain usage data on its servers.
2. Information We Collect
Litia records the following usage data for families and educators to see, but does not have access to and does not retain on any Litia servers:
- Learning progress and app state (e.g., completed activities, proficiency progress, streaks, settings, in-app currency balance).
- Visual preferences (e.g., avatar selection, button theme selection).
- Optional, non-identifying diagnostic information stored locally for troubleshooting (if enabled by an adult).
We do not allow users to provide a real name, phone number, address, or any other personally identifying information to use any feature of Litia.
3. Camera and Eye Tracking
Litia requests camera access for real-time eye tracking and head-tracking interactions. TrueDepth camera functionality is used solely to compute a real-time gaze point on screen for eye tracking similar to existing accessibility eye tracking tools integrated into iOS. No facial geometry, depth maps, or biometric identifiers are stored on-device or transmitted off-device.
Litia does not store, save, or transmit camera frames, face images, or video recordings for eye tracking. Camera data is used transiently in memory and discarded immediately after processing.
4. Audio and Text-to-Speech
Litia uses iOS text-to-speech functionality to read educational content aloud. Litia does not use any user’s device microphone to record audio for any purpose. Litia does not record or transmit user speech.
5. Children’s Privacy (COPPA / UK Children’s Code)
We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) from children.
- No advertising identifiers are used.
- No behavioral tracking or third-party advertising SDKs are used.
- We do not sell user data of any kind.
- Data can be deleted by deleting the account or resetting the app's data.
Offline information is stored on the user’s device. Google and Apple accounts may be used to store data offline.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for advertising.
We may share information only if required by law, to protect the safety of users, or to enforce legal rights. Because Litia is offline by default, we generally do not possess server-side user data to share.
7. Data Storage and Security
By default, Litia stores data locally on the device. This data is protected by iOS security features (such as the application sandbox and device-level protections).
By default, Litia stores data locally on the device and relies on iOS security protections (sandboxing and device-level controls). Optional cloud sync uses Apple CloudKit when enabled and when account eligibility requirements are met. Litia does not use third-party advertising networks. Litia does not use third-party analytics SDKs. Litia integrates Google Sign-In solely for authentication purposes; when a user signs in with Google, only an account identifier and email address are received. No user data is transmitted to Google beyond the initial authentication handshake.
Subscription billing is handled entirely by Apple's App Store. Litia does not receive or store payment information of any kind.
8. International Users (EU/UK)
For users in the EU/UK, the typical legal bases for processing are:
- Performance of a contract (providing the app’s functionality),
- Legitimate interests (improving the learning experience), and/or
- Consent (where required).
Because Litia stores data on-device by default, international data transfers generally do not occur. In the event that the functionality of the application changes, the privacy policy will be updated to reflect changes in the functionality of the Litia app.
9. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, delete, or restrict processing of personal information.
In offline mode:
- Users may delete and reset application data by deleting their account in the app.
- If cloud features are added later, we will provide additional access/deletion tools and update this policy.
10. Third-Party Services
Litia uses Apple system frameworks (e.g., AVSpeechSynthesizer, camera APIs) to provide core functionality. Litia does not integrate third-party advertising SDKs.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date and, when appropriate, provide in-app and email notice to the adult account owner who has registered the account.
