We built Litia to bring learning into the future.

Thomas Walsh is a first-year law student at Northwestern University. Thomas serves as the founder of Litia, having developed the app on nights and weekends as a law student. He was inspired to create Litia by his experiences as a substitute teacher in rural Alabama, and he is excited to reach students who may otherwise lack the support or engagement methods to learn reading, writing, and mathematical skills as well as their peers.

Thomas created Litia after his Pin Intelligence project, an award-winning adaptive standardized exam prep tool that he had developed as an undergraduate student at The University of Alabama.

After lengthy discussions with educators and prospective investors, Thomas sought to create a "blue ocean" tool that would aid an underserved niche within education, rather than being just another standardized test prep tool.

Litia's Objectives

Improve Learning Outcomes

Litia was inspired by a desire to help students develop pattern recognition skills and symbolic meanings necessary to read or perform basic arithmetic. Litia aims to help students learn these skills regardless of whether they have a parent or guardian leaning over their shoulder and helping them learn.

Encourage Learning

Litia aims to make the difficult process of learning how to read, write, and perform arithmetic more engaging for young learners in the digital age through interactivity. Moreover, Litia provides learners with opportunities to create art or personalize their profiles as rewards for learning.

Teach Multilingual Literacy

Though this is not available now, we aim to create opportunities in the near future for learners of all ages looking to learn literacy skills in a range of languages. The stories, literacy quizzes, math quizzes, vocabulary exercises, and user interfaces will be available in a multitude of languages.
